keyboard_arrow_downA blown glass shade, textured, hung on a slim cord from a metal ceiling rose. The surface of the glass is not smooth: it carries relief, ripples, sometimes inclusions of glass beads in different colours depending on the model. What catches the eye first is the chromatic density: a saturated blue, a deep pink, a translucent green, a warm amber. This coloured glass LED pendant light exists in the room as an object of colour before it is a light source.
The textured glass diffuses the light differently according to its thickness and its relief. The areas of thin glass let more output through and light up more strongly. The thick areas and the bead inclusions create points of resistance that produce variations of brightness across the surface. Lit, the pendant does not project an even light: it produces a play of tones and intensities that depends on the geography of the glass. The colour of the light emitted is tinted by the glass. A blue shade produces a slightly blue light on nearby surfaces, a pink one gives a rosy light.
In a dining room, hung 65-70cm (25.5"-27.5") above a table for two or four people, it lights the surface of the meal with a coloured, diffused light. In a living room, set above a coffee table or in a reading corner, it creates a point of colour hanging in the void that visually structures the zone without closing it off. In a bedroom, the pink or amber glass pendant produces a warm ambient light in the evening, distinct from the functional lighting of the ceiling fitting.
The six models (A to F) correspond to different pairings of colour and glass texture. Some are single-colour, a plain blue or a plain green, with a surface texture worked in relief. Others combine several colours in one shade (blue and pink, amber and green, multicoloured) with inset glass beads that add points of light across the surface. The diameter varies from 15 to 19cm (6"-7.5") depending on the model. These compact formats suit an installation in a run, two or three pendants at identical drops above a table, better than a single installation expected to cover all the lighting in a room.
The choice of colour commits the palette of the room directly. A saturated blue in an interior of neutral tones becomes the chromatic focal point: there is no possible compromise, the pendant takes the lead. A dusky pink in an interior already pink or beige blends in more. Amber in a space of warm tones (wood, terracotta, linen) extends the palette without a break. Red and yellow are the most assertive colours: they work in interiors that accept strong colour accents, not in spaces already saturated with pattern.
The colour temperature of the source — warm white, cool white or daylight — interacts directly with the colour of the glass. A warm white at 2700K through amber glass produces a very orange light. The same warm white through blue glass gives a less cold blue. Daylight at 4000K through coloured glass produces a livelier, more saturated tone. It is worth choosing warm white with the warm shades (amber, pink, red, yellow) and daylight with the cool shades (blue, green) for chromatic coherence.
To explore other glass pendants suited to dining rooms and living rooms, the pendant lights collection brings together models in glass, metal and natural materials so you can compare volumes, colours and types of diffusion according to the mood you are after.
Most glass shades are clear or frosted and transmit a white light. Coloured glass filters the light spectrum and lets only certain wavelengths through. The light emitted is tinted, and that tint is cast onto nearby surfaces: the wall opposite, the table below, the hands of your guests. In a room with white walls, the effect is noticeable. In a room with dark tones, it melts away.
The textures of the glass add a further dimension. The ripples on the surface break the light output into multiple directions and create variations of intensity on the walls of the room. The inset beads act as so many bright points that punctuate the surface of the shade. The result changes with the angle of view and with your position in the room, which a smooth shade does not produce.

The house of Lumiris
Lumiris was born from a simple conviction: a light is not an accessory, it is a presence. It changes the way a room is read, softens an evening, turns an ordinary space into a refuge. We founded this house for those who refuse to choose between beauty and longevity.
Every piece in our catalogue is chosen for its material — alabaster, travertine, marble, solid wood — for the character that is its own, and for its ability to carry the years without ageing. At Lumiris, nothing is mass-produced. Everything is made to last.

Which light should you choose for a dining room?
keyboard_arrow_downA dining room calls for lighting that is decorative and comfortable in equal measure. The pendant light remains the most common choice, because it draws the eye to the table and creates a warm atmosphere during meals. Over a rectangular table, a linear model or several pendants hung in a row spread the light more evenly. Over a round table, a single central pendant in glass, travertine, alabaster or metal works beautifully. The hanging height should light the table without dazzling your guests, with a warmer light to keep the mood convivial.
How do you choose the right light for a living room?
keyboard_arrow_downThe right choice depends on the size of the room, the ceiling height and the mood you are after. In a generous living room, a central pendant or a cluster of pendants gives the space structure and provides a pleasant general light. A wall light completes the scheme, creating a softer atmosphere beside a sofa, a bookcase or a reading corner. Plug-in wall lights suit relaxing corners particularly well, because they add targeted light without any change to your electrical installation. At Lumiris, models in alabaster, glass, wood, travertine or metal let you match the lighting to the style of your interior.
What does the colour temperature of a light mean?
keyboard_arrow_downColour temperature describes the tint of the light given off by the bulb or the LED. A warm light, around 2700K to 3000K, creates a soft, welcoming atmosphere, ideal for a living room, a bedroom or a dining room. A neutral light, around 4000K, suits kitchens, home offices or hallways. A cool light gives a whiter, more functional result. This choice shapes the mood of a room directly, even when the design of the light itself stays exactly the same.
How do you know whether a light will light a room well enough?
keyboard_arrow_downLight output is measured in lumens, not in watts alone. The higher the lumen figure, the more strongly the light shines. In a living space, plan for enough general light first, then layer in secondary lighting such as a wall light or a second pendant. A large room may need several light sources to avoid dark corners. Decorative lights in alabaster, glass, paper or fabric sometimes cast a softer light, which makes them perfect for atmosphere but less suited to being the only source of light in a room.
What is the difference between an integrated LED and a replaceable bulb?
keyboard_arrow_downAn integrated LED is built straight into the light fitting and often allows a slimmer, more modern or more sculptural design. It offers good light efficiency and low energy consumption. A replaceable bulb gives you more freedom to choose the brightness, the colour temperature and the type of bulb to suit your own preferences. Before buying, it is worth checking the product page for the type of light source, the compatible wattage and any options available. This detail affects both upkeep and long-term use.
What are the delivery times for your lighting?
keyboard_arrow_downOrders are generally processed within 1 to 2 working days once payment is confirmed. Once dispatched, delivery usually takes 6 to 8 working days depending on the destination and the route your parcel takes. The total time is therefore typically 7 to 10 working days.
