Its drawing takes its cue from equestrian vocabulary, leather strap and patinated metal, and transposes it into an indoor light fitting. The linen shade softens the source and spreads a gentle light that warms the wall. It lights a living room, a bedroom or a home office with ambient brightness rather than task light. The E14 (SES) cap takes a dimmable bulb so you can shape the mood as the evening goes on. Two shade widths answer walls of different proportions.

The small Hastings model, fifteen centimetres across, suits narrow walls and bedsides; the thirty-five centimetre version calls for a more generous stretch of wall, above a console or a sofa. Fitted at eye level, it places the shade level with the eyes without revealing the source. On its own, it warms a corner; in a pair, it frames a bed or a fireplace with symmetry. Its softened light works alongside a more neutral ceiling light, which it takes over from once evening comes.
