A linear bar for long walls

This linear wall light in black aluminium gives out 485 lumens (the lumen measures the quantity of light emitted, so 485lm reads much like a traditional 40W bulb) through a continuous slot, over a length running from 30cm to 150cm (12" to 59"). The line of light follows the wall and stretches it visually, which suits wide facades and boundary walls that isolated points of light leave looking fragmented. The IP65 rating (weatherproof — sealed against dust and water jets) allows unsheltered mounting. All three colour temperatures are included and switchable on the fitting itself. Seven lengths let you match the real dimension of the wall rather than approximate it.

Key features

  • Material and finish: black aluminium, corrosion-resistant and suited to freeze-thaw cycles — worth having through a British winter.
  • Light quality and spread: 485 lumens through a continuous slot, with no hot spot and no directed beam.
  • Installation and compatibility: integrated LED, wall fixing, wired into the mains supply.
  • Dimensions and scale: seven lengths, from 30cm to 150cm (12" to 59"), to match the wall you are treating.
  • Colour temperature: warm, neutral and cool white all included, switchable on the fitting.

Three-colour switching, included on this model

This fitting is fitted with three-colour switching: you change its colour temperature after installation, with nothing to replace. Three moods: warm white (3000K), a yellow light that relaxes, for a living room or a bedroom; neutral white (4000K), balanced, for a room with two uses; cool white (6000K), clear and legible, for a kitchen or a home office.

In practice, the same space moves from task lighting during the day to ambient light in the evening. Nothing to select when you order: all three temperatures are included.

Installing it in the UK

This light is wired into a mains circuit, so it should be installed by a qualified electrician. The work must comply with BS 7671 (the IET Wiring Regulations) and with Part P of the Building Regulations, and any outdoor circuit should be protected by an RCD. Isolate the circuit at the consumer unit before starting, and check that every gland and seal is closed properly once the fitting is in place.

Where to install it

Facade: the 100cm to 150cm (39.5" to 59") lengths follow a wide wall and avoid a run of separate light points. IP65 covers a fully exposed elevation.

Terrace: mounted horizontally under an overhang, it lights the space with no visible hardware from where you are sitting. A sheltered porch is an easy position for it.

Path: the 30cm (12") version, repeated low down, marks the route without glare.

Pairing and positioning

Choose the length in relation to what it sits on: a linear bar should occupy at least a third of the width of the wall to look deliberate, otherwise it reads as a badly sized accessory. Horizontally under a roof overhang, allow at least 2.2m (87") from the ground. Vertically alongside a door, line the top of the bar up with the top of the frame. Neutral white picks out edges and suits entrances; warm white softens a terrace. Having all three modes included means you can decide after installation, which saves you guessing from a drawing.

The house of Lumiris

Light
as a living material

Lumiris was born from a simple conviction: a light is not an accessory, it is a presence. It changes the way a room is read, softens an evening, turns an ordinary space into a refuge. We founded this house for those who refuse to choose between beauty and longevity.

Every piece in our catalogue is chosen for its material — alabaster, travertine, marble, solid wood — for the character that is its own, and for its ability to carry the years without ageing. At Lumiris, nothing is mass-produced. Everything is made to last.

Frequently asked questions

Which light should you choose for a dining room?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

A dining room calls for lighting that is decorative and comfortable in equal measure. The pendant light remains the most common choice, because it draws the eye to the table and creates a warm atmosphere during meals. Over a rectangular table, a linear model or several pendants hung in a row spread the light more evenly. Over a round table, a single central pendant in glass, travertine, alabaster or metal works beautifully. The hanging height should light the table without dazzling your guests, with a warmer light to keep the mood convivial.

How do you choose the right light for a living room?

The right choice depends on the size of the room, the ceiling height and the mood you are after. In a generous living room, a central pendant or a cluster of pendants gives the space structure and provides a pleasant general light. A wall light completes the scheme, creating a softer atmosphere beside a sofa, a bookcase or a reading corner. Plug-in wall lights suit relaxing corners particularly well, because they add targeted light without any change to your electrical installation. At Lumiris, models in alabaster, glass, wood, travertine or metal let you match the lighting to the style of your interior.

What does the colour temperature of a light mean?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

Colour temperature describes the tint of the light given off by the bulb or the LED. A warm light, around 2700K to 3000K, creates a soft, welcoming atmosphere, ideal for a living room, a bedroom or a dining room. A neutral light, around 4000K, suits kitchens, home offices or hallways. A cool light gives a whiter, more functional result. This choice shapes the mood of a room directly, even when the design of the light itself stays exactly the same.

How do you know whether a light will light a room well enough?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

Light output is measured in lumens, not in watts alone. The higher the lumen figure, the more strongly the light shines. In a living space, plan for enough general light first, then layer in secondary lighting such as a wall light or a second pendant. A large room may need several light sources to avoid dark corners. Decorative lights in alabaster, glass, paper or fabric sometimes cast a softer light, which makes them perfect for atmosphere but less suited to being the only source of light in a room.

What is the difference between an integrated LED and a replaceable bulb?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

An integrated LED is built straight into the light fitting and often allows a slimmer, more modern or more sculptural design. It offers good light efficiency and low energy consumption. A replaceable bulb gives you more freedom to choose the brightness, the colour temperature and the type of bulb to suit your own preferences. Before buying, it is worth checking the product page for the type of light source, the compatible wattage and any options available. This detail affects both upkeep and long-term use.

What are the delivery times for your lighting?

keyboard_arrow_down

Orders are generally processed within 1 to 2 working days once payment is confirmed. Once dispatched, delivery usually takes 6 to 8 working days depending on the destination and the route your parcel takes. The total time is therefore typically 7 to 10 working days.
