keyboard_arrow_downThis linear wall light in black aluminium gives out 485 lumens (the lumen measures the quantity of light emitted, so 485lm reads much like a traditional 40W bulb) through a continuous slot, over a length running from 30cm to 150cm (12" to 59"). The line of light follows the wall and stretches it visually, which suits wide facades and boundary walls that isolated points of light leave looking fragmented. The IP65 rating (weatherproof — sealed against dust and water jets) allows unsheltered mounting. All three colour temperatures are included and switchable on the fitting itself. Seven lengths let you match the real dimension of the wall rather than approximate it.
This fitting is fitted with three-colour switching: you change its colour temperature after installation, with nothing to replace. This light is wired into a mains circuit, so it should be installed by a qualified electrician. The work must comply with BS 7671 (the IET Wiring Regulations) and with Part P of the Building Regulations, and any outdoor circuit should be protected by an RCD. Isolate the circuit at the consumer unit before starting, and check that every gland and seal is closed properly once the fitting is in place.
Facade: the 100cm to 150cm (39.5" to 59") lengths follow a wide wall and avoid a run of separate light points. IP65 covers a fully exposed elevation.
Terrace: mounted horizontally under an overhang, it lights the space with no visible hardware from where you are sitting. A sheltered porch is an easy position for it.
Path: the 30cm (12") version, repeated low down, marks the route without glare.
Choose the length in relation to what it sits on: a linear bar should occupy at least a third of the width of the wall to look deliberate, otherwise it reads as a badly sized accessory. Horizontally under a roof overhang, allow at least 2.2m (87") from the ground. Vertically alongside a door, line the top of the bar up with the top of the frame. Neutral white picks out edges and suits entrances; warm white softens a terrace. Having all three modes included means you can decide after installation, which saves you guessing from a drawing.
