keyboard_arrow_downA large travertine disc, laid flat against the wall. At its centre, a dark wood sphere, round, solid, set into the stone. Between the two, the integrated LED casts a circular halo across the travertine surface from behind the sphere. The light grazes the stone in a ring, follows the veins and the pockets of the travertine and reveals them one by one, with no downward beam and no frontal diffusion. This sculptural wood and stone wall light is an object first and a light source second.
The travertine of the disc carries every irregularity of sedimentary rock: beige and ivory veining, tiny cavities, denser areas and more porous ones. The warm light grazing its surface from within does not even it out, it accentuates it. Every hollow becomes a shadow, every ridge catches the light. The central sphere in walnut or pale wood is smooth and turned, contrasting with the raw texture of the disc around it. Lit, the wall light produces an even amber halo around the sphere. Unlit, the stone disc and the wooden sphere already stand on their own as a composition.
In a living room, set on a bare wall above a sofa or a console table, it holds its place as a focal point without needing any other decoration around it: the stone and the wood are enough. In a bedroom, its warm ring of light creates a settled evening atmosphere with no direct glare. In a hallway, it welcomes before the light is even switched on, the travertine disc occupying the wall with a presence few wall lights achieve.
The walnut finish pairs a deep brown, almost chocolate central sphere with the natural beige of the travertine. The contrast between the two materials is at its strongest: the dark wood stands out clearly against the pale stone. In an interior with darker tones or dark wood furniture, this version carries the palette through coherently. The pale wood finish reduces that contrast. The sphere stays close to the register of the travertine, beige and warm. The relationship between the two materials is softer and more even, which suits neutral interiors where the texture of the stone should count for more than the contrast of tones.
The travertine disc is not uniform from one piece to the next. That is the nature of the material: every slab shows a different network of veins, areas of more or less pronounced pitting, a tone that varies slightly depending on where the rock was quarried. It is not a manufacturing fault, it is what makes two identical wall lights in the same finish look subtly different. The light grazes the surface and reveals those differences. What was invisible by day becomes legible in the evening.
Installation is by direct wiring to the wall. It fits onto an existing lighting point. Mounting plate, screws and illustrated instructions are supplied. Allow around 20 minutes. Switch off at the consumer unit before starting work. The weight of the stone disc calls for a solid fixing, not a standard plasterboard plug. The LED is integrated and supplied. The warm colour temperature is fixed, with no choice after installation and no dimmable function. This is ambient lighting by design, not adjustable task lighting.
To explore other wall lights in natural materials suited to the living room and the bedroom, our wall lights collection brings together travertine, wood, alabaster and metal models so you can compare shapes, materials and light output for the space you have in mind.
Most wall lights throw light upwards, downwards or forwards. This sculptural travertine and wood wall light works differently: the LED lights from behind the central sphere towards the stone disc that surrounds it. The light stays between the sphere and the stone, grazes the surface of the disc in a continuous circle and spills slightly onto the wall around it. The halo is concentrated, local, circular. The room around it stays in a relative half-light that contrasts with the lit zone around the fitting.
The effect reads most clearly on pale walls (matt white, lime plaster, pale polished concrete) where the amber halo contrasts sharply. On a dark wall the effect is more contained, but the texture of the travertine stays visible in the grazing light. Either way, this is lighting that does not try to cover the largest possible surface: it lights the fitting itself as much as the room.
This sculptural wood and stone wall light does not work in every interior. In a very lacquered, very geometric or very cool space, the mineral quality of the travertine and the warmth of the wood can feel out of place. In an interior that embraces raw materials (linen, wool, terracotta, solid wood) it settles in as though it had always been there. It is an object that lasts visually, without dating.

The house of Lumiris
Lumiris was born from a simple conviction: a light is not an accessory, it is a presence. It changes the way a room is read, softens an evening, turns an ordinary space into a refuge. We founded this house for those who refuse to choose between beauty and longevity.
Every piece in our catalogue is chosen for its material — alabaster, travertine, marble, solid wood — for the character that is its own, and for its ability to carry the years without ageing. At Lumiris, nothing is mass-produced. Everything is made to last.

Which light should you choose for a dining room?
keyboard_arrow_downA dining room calls for lighting that is decorative and comfortable in equal measure. The pendant light remains the most common choice, because it draws the eye to the table and creates a warm atmosphere during meals. Over a rectangular table, a linear model or several pendants hung in a row spread the light more evenly. Over a round table, a single central pendant in glass, travertine, alabaster or metal works beautifully. The hanging height should light the table without dazzling your guests, with a warmer light to keep the mood convivial.
How do you choose the right light for a living room?
keyboard_arrow_downThe right choice depends on the size of the room, the ceiling height and the mood you are after. In a generous living room, a central pendant or a cluster of pendants gives the space structure and provides a pleasant general light. A wall light completes the scheme, creating a softer atmosphere beside a sofa, a bookcase or a reading corner. Plug-in wall lights suit relaxing corners particularly well, because they add targeted light without any change to your electrical installation. At Lumiris, models in alabaster, glass, wood, travertine or metal let you match the lighting to the style of your interior.
What does the colour temperature of a light mean?
keyboard_arrow_downColour temperature describes the tint of the light given off by the bulb or the LED. A warm light, around 2700K to 3000K, creates a soft, welcoming atmosphere, ideal for a living room, a bedroom or a dining room. A neutral light, around 4000K, suits kitchens, home offices or hallways. A cool light gives a whiter, more functional result. This choice shapes the mood of a room directly, even when the design of the light itself stays exactly the same.
How do you know whether a light will light a room well enough?
keyboard_arrow_downLight output is measured in lumens, not in watts alone. The higher the lumen figure, the more strongly the light shines. In a living space, plan for enough general light first, then layer in secondary lighting such as a wall light or a second pendant. A large room may need several light sources to avoid dark corners. Decorative lights in alabaster, glass, paper or fabric sometimes cast a softer light, which makes them perfect for atmosphere but less suited to being the only source of light in a room.
What is the difference between an integrated LED and a replaceable bulb?
keyboard_arrow_downAn integrated LED is built straight into the light fitting and often allows a slimmer, more modern or more sculptural design. It offers good light efficiency and low energy consumption. A replaceable bulb gives you more freedom to choose the brightness, the colour temperature and the type of bulb to suit your own preferences. Before buying, it is worth checking the product page for the type of light source, the compatible wattage and any options available. This detail affects both upkeep and long-term use.
What are the delivery times for your lighting?
