An oval glass shade, hung on a slim cable, topped with a ring of pale wood. The shape is simple, almost familiar. What sets it apart is the material: in the amber version, the orange glass tints the light before it leaves. The bulb becomes invisible, and all you see is the luminous ball, golden, hanging in space. This wood and glass pendant light produces an effect that clear or frosted glass cannot reproduce.

The wood caps the top of the shade like a hat. It frames the junction between the cable and the glass, and gives the pendant a visible head even when it is off. The material is warm, lightly striated along the grain of the wood. Beneath it, the oval glass is smooth, translucent, tinted right through. When the bulb is lit, the glass lights up across its whole surface: not one patch, but a whole ball that radiates. The light that comes out downwards is warm, orange, close to that of a strong candle.

In a kitchen above an island, three globes in a line create a row of luminous balls hung at even heights. In a dining room, a single globe centred above a round table concentrates the light on the surface without trying to cover the whole room. In a living room, two globes flanking a sofa add two symmetrical points of luminous anchorage. In every configuration, the amber version warms whatever it touches.

Amber glass and wood pendant, available with 1, 2 or 3 lights, in orange or milky white

The number of globes directly conditions the total light output and the visual composition. A single globe suits small spaces or occasional uses: a reading corner, a bedside table, a compact kitchen. Two globes cover a table for four to six people with a symmetrical light. Three globes come into their own above large tables, long islands or in spaces where the pendant has to give visual structure to a horizontal axis.

The orange colour (amber glass) is the choice of interiors after a tinted, warm, almost coloured light. The tint of the glass filters the LED or the bulb and produces a light that approaches 1800-2000K depending on the bulb chosen. That is warmer than a standard LED at 2700K. In an interior of natural tones (dark wood, terracotta, undyed linen) this effect extends the chromatic palette of the room. The milky white colour produces a more neutral, diffused light, with no tint. It suits lighter interiors where an orange light would unbalance the tones.

Bulbs are not included. The E27 (ES) cap is the standard: it leaves the choice open between different wattages and colour temperatures. That detail matters particularly on the orange model. A cool bulb at 6000K through amber glass will give a different result from a warm bulb at 2700K. It is better to try a warm bulb to keep the coherence of the effect you are after.

To compare with other shapes of pendant in natural materials suited to the dining room or the kitchen, the pendant lights collection brings together models in glass, metal, wood and stone so you can refine your choice according to light output and material.

Tinted glass pendant light: what the colour of the glass does to the light

Most glass shades are clear or frosted. Clear glass lets the source be seen and projects an unfiltered white light. Frosted glass absorbs irregularities and diffuses evenly. Amber glass does something else: it absorbs part of the light spectrum and lets only the warm wavelengths through. The light that comes out is physically different from the light that enters the globe. It is a transformation of the light by the material itself.

This amber glass pendant light works in interiors that accept an ambient light rather than functional lighting. It is not suited as a main source in a workspace or a kitchen where visual precision comes first. It suits dining tables, relaxing corners, spaces where the evening atmosphere matters more than maximum legibility.

The crown of wood at the top of each globe counts in the overall balance. In an interior that already combines natural wood with glass (oak shelving, walnut frames, glazed screens) it establishes a continuity of material between the fitting and the rest. The wood and glass pendant light does not float in the scheme like an isolated object. It fits in through the materials it carries.

The house of Lumiris

Light
as a living material

Lumiris was born from a simple conviction: a light is not an accessory, it is a presence. It changes the way a room is read, softens an evening, turns an ordinary space into a refuge. We founded this house for those who refuse to choose between beauty and longevity.

Every piece in our catalogue is chosen for its material — alabaster, travertine, marble, solid wood — for the character that is its own, and for its ability to carry the years without ageing. At Lumiris, nothing is mass-produced. Everything is made to last.

Frequently asked questions

Which light should you choose for a dining room?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

A dining room calls for lighting that is decorative and comfortable in equal measure. The pendant light remains the most common choice, because it draws the eye to the table and creates a warm atmosphere during meals. Over a rectangular table, a linear model or several pendants hung in a row spread the light more evenly. Over a round table, a single central pendant in glass, travertine, alabaster or metal works beautifully. The hanging height should light the table without dazzling your guests, with a warmer light to keep the mood convivial.

How do you choose the right light for a living room?

The right choice depends on the size of the room, the ceiling height and the mood you are after. In a generous living room, a central pendant or a cluster of pendants gives the space structure and provides a pleasant general light. A wall light completes the scheme, creating a softer atmosphere beside a sofa, a bookcase or a reading corner. Plug-in wall lights suit relaxing corners particularly well, because they add targeted light without any change to your electrical installation. At Lumiris, models in alabaster, glass, wood, travertine or metal let you match the lighting to the style of your interior.

What does the colour temperature of a light mean?

keyboard_arrow_down

Colour temperature describes the tint of the light given off by the bulb or the LED. A warm light, around 2700K to 3000K, creates a soft, welcoming atmosphere, ideal for a living room, a bedroom or a dining room. A neutral light, around 4000K, suits kitchens, home offices or hallways. A cool light gives a whiter, more functional result. This choice shapes the mood of a room directly, even when the design of the light itself stays exactly the same.

How do you know whether a light will light a room well enough?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

Light output is measured in lumens, not in watts alone. The higher the lumen figure, the more strongly the light shines. In a living space, plan for enough general light first, then layer in secondary lighting such as a wall light or a second pendant. A large room may need several light sources to avoid dark corners. Decorative lights in alabaster, glass, paper or fabric sometimes cast a softer light, which makes them perfect for atmosphere but less suited to being the only source of light in a room.

What is the difference between an integrated LED and a replaceable bulb?

keyboard_arrow_down
add remove

An integrated LED is built straight into the light fitting and often allows a slimmer, more modern or more sculptural design. It offers good light efficiency and low energy consumption. A replaceable bulb gives you more freedom to choose the brightness, the colour temperature and the type of bulb to suit your own preferences. Before buying, it is worth checking the product page for the type of light source, the compatible wattage and any options available. This detail affects both upkeep and long-term use.

What are the delivery times for your lighting?

Orders are generally processed within 1 to 2 working days once payment is confirmed. Once dispatched, delivery usually takes 6 to 8 working days depending on the destination and the route your parcel takes. The total time is therefore typically 7 to 10 working days.
